With over 25 years of experience as a development practitioner, writer, facilitator and motivational speaker, Rashad has worked on responsible and senior positions and continues to have consistent and passionate interest in educational and professional development of the Muslim youth in the contexts of Muslim-Western relations, political/religious violence and extremism, and various aspects of the political Islam in the Muslim societies.
As the Executive Director of Peace and Education Foundation (PEF), Islamabad, Rashad developed and overseen implementation of a number of educational and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) related projects with a wide range of local beneficiaries. Along with being the administrative head of the PEF, he has spearheaded the challenging portfolios of educational training for religious and public-school teachers, and curricular and pedagogical enhancement of the religious and mainstream schools. His work revolved around promoting tolerance, popularizing human rights, and developing critical thinking skills among the teachers, their institutions, and students. While working with the Muslim youth, his work focused on offering hope, creating opportunities for dialogue and producing constructive suggestions to facilitate peaceful resolution of conflicts.
He has worked and delivered on projects related to capacity building of civil society practitioners including media professionals, religious and public-school teachers, faith communities and their leaders, civil society and community leaders, instructional and supplemental material development in the formal and informal education sector. He has led the processes of developing of two volumes of a Peace Textbook and a large number of training manuals and educational modules that provide a model for social and attitudinal change via working with the teachers, youth and community leaders from the grassroots level to middle and top leaderships.
Rashad also writes fiction particularly poetry, short stories, novel and essays beside occasional commentary on current affairs.
